Course Details

We'll meet twice a week on Monday and Wednesday for 5 weeks at 3pm PST. The first lesson is on Monday Nov. 3rd (PST) and the last lesson is on Wednesday Dec. 10th (PST).

Sessions are recorded—it doesn't matter much at all whether you join live or not. You can even watch the lessons days or weeks after they are released (the only downside being that the community won't be talking about that lesson so much later).

Sign up here

Seats are limited, so we encourage everyone to sign up as soon as possible. You'll save $100 if you sign up by Oct 20th. We have a hard cutoff date of Nov. 3rd where no additional signups will be accepted.

Along with me, you'll learn from my good friend Johno Whitaker (who you might remember from previous fast.ai courses), and the answer.ai team will run office hours and bonus lessons. You'll also join a thriving private community—the solveit Discord is an even more supportive group of brilliant people than the fast.ai forums, which is a very high bar.

Course Overview

Across the 10 lessons, we'll be learning to apply the solveit method to:

  • Classic data structures and algorithms applied to coding puzzles, looking at some fun Advent of Code problems
  • More advanced methods applying a functional style of programming, accelerated algorithms using numpy and pytorch, graph algorithms, and so forth
  • Web programming using FastHTML, HTMX, and foundational HTML/HTTP/CSS basics
  • Writing, including long form writing (with Eric Ries), blog posts, articles, and actually useful meeting notes
  • Using web APIs
  • System administration and devops
  • Web scraping
  • Building startups that take advantage of what we've learned (with Eric Ries).

These are normally each full-semester-length topics of their own, so naturally we can't cover them top-to-bottom in this 5 week course. Instead, we'll be providing an introduction to each topic, showing some key ideas, and explaining how to use Solveit to continue on your learning journey without our help. (But of course, you'll still have the community to help you.)

Access to Solveit Platform

The course fee includes access to the Solveit platform (with no quotas) from when you sign up through to at least 2 weeks after the course finishes. After the course, you will be able to subscribe to maintain access, or can sign up to future courses. Details of this will be announced during the course.
